The project focuses on Nong Khaem District, a strategic waste management area for Bangkok. The goal is to extract key learnings and develop the “Nong Khaem Model” as a scalable blueprint for broader replication. This includes reviewing the waste management system across four dimensions: 1) Policy 2) Infrastructure 3) Knowledge management & innovation and 4) Engagement at all levels. A Nong Khaem Green Map has also been developed as an important tool to support policy review and planning
Field surveys and network-building efforts, conducted in collaboration with the Nong Khaem District Office, have enabled targeted problem-solving and strengthened policy implementation. These efforts contribute to future readiness for establishing Material Recovery Facility (MRF)—positioning Nong Khaem as Bangkok’s emerging SMART RECYCLING HUB.
